Proper calcium supplementation is essential for the health of invertebrates and turtles. The right feeding frequency ensures optimal growth, shell strength, and overall well-being. Both KatsAquatics Invertebrate Calcium and ShellGuard are supplements and should be fed alongside a varied diet for optimal results.

Invertebrate Calcium: Feed 2-3 Times Per Week

Every animal and colony size is different, so adjust feeding amounts based on the needs of your tank inhabitants.

  • For a tank with 30 shrimp: 1-2 calcium tablets.

  • For a crayfish: 1 calcium tablet.

  • For snails: Snails consume the most calcium. Feed 1 tablet per 5 mystery snails or 1 tablet per 15 ramshorn snails.

  • For other species not listed: Start with one tablet and adjust as needed.

  • Monitoring: If there is still food left after 12 hours, feed less next time—sometimes breaking the calcium tablet into smaller pieces may be necessary.

ShellGuard for Turtles: Feeding Guide

Adult Turtles:

  • Offer 1-2 times per week as a supplement to their regular diet.

  • This food should make up 10% of the turtle’s total diet.

Juveniles & Egg-Laying Females:

  • Offer 2-3 times per week, as they require extra calcium for growth and egg production.

  • This food should make up less than 15% of the total diet.

Feeding Quantity:

  • 1-2 pellets per feeding, adjusting based on the turtle’s size.

  • Smaller species may need just one pellet, while larger turtles may require more.

Important Notes:

  • ShellGuard is a supplement, not a primary food source.

  • Use alongside a balanced diet and proper UVB lighting for maximum calcium absorption.

  • Both Invertebrate Calcium and ShellGuard should be fed as part of a varied diet to ensure overall health and optimal nutrition.

By following these feeding guidelines, you’ll ensure that your invertebrates and turtles receive the right amount of calcium to support their health and longevity
